Tee shirts are coming!!!

Author: Andrea

OK, it is official. We are finally putting in a new order for Tee shirts. This time there will be women’s and men’s Tee’s. Yippee ladies!! It’s about time isn’t it!

We’ve found an excellent company based out of Ontario that uses sustainable, ethically manufactured quality Tee shirts. Their product line is domestically produced, sweatshop-free and made using certified organic cotton and bamboo. AND  they donate 50% of their profits to the charity, Free the Children.  Talk about a socially conscious enterprise.

I’m taking pre-orders right now.  If you order with this batch, you’ll save a bit of dough ($25 INCLUDING SHIPPING AND TAXES).   For the moment, payment will have to be personal cheque.  I’ll try and get paypal set up soon.  Delivery time will be around mid May.

Here’s a look at the shirts to be.

Women’s Tee – colour as seen (navy blue)

This lightweight fitted T-shirt is made from the highest quality cotton, 100% organic ringspun combed cotton. The Sahara stretch is flattering and perfect for layering. Its shorter sleeves and long body-hugging fit give it that extra flare, making it a must-have for every wardrobe.  Sizing info below:

Women’s Tees XS S M L XL XXL
Chest 14″ 15″ 17″ 19″ 21″ 23″
Body Length 23″ 23.5″ 24″ 24″ 24″ 24″

How to measure below.

Men’s Tee – colour as seen (midnight black)

A lightweight jersey tee. Made from the highest quality cotton, with a fitted cut and reinforced shoulders, this T-shirt is soft, breathable and guaranteed not to lose its shape.

Sizing info:

Men’s Tees XS S M L XL XXL
Chest 16″ 18″ 20″ 22″ 24″ 26″
Body Length 25″ 26″ 27″ 27.5″ 28″ 28.5″

Me to We have taken into account that cotton will shrink slightly when washed, and the size chart reflects clothing measurements after they have been washed and dried. Follow the below three easy steps to finding the fit that’s perfect for you! (from the Me to We website)

1) Take your favourite T-shirt out of your closet.

2) Measure its width from one armpit to the other.

3) Find the matching measurements on this size chart, and you’ve found the T-shirt for you!

Just contact us with info about the amount you want, what type, and size(s).

In Praise of the “Classic” Road Bike

Author: Sam

I love the classic road bike. What do I mean by “classic”?

I use the term “classic” to distinguish it from a pure racing machine.  Racing bikes have all but completely hi-jacked the road bike category even though most people are (trying) to use them for recreational rides, brevets,  light touring, randonneuring and such. Speed and light weight is desired but not at the cost of comfort, handling, durability and a little touch of practicality.

HST Rally at Legislature

Author: Andrea

On March 3rd, 2010 at 12pm there is a  demonstrative rally against HST on bicycles  at the Legislature in Victoria, BC.   HST  would increase taxes on bicycles from 5%  GST to also include PST (currently sitting at  7%).  If HST is implemented in July of this  year, we’d all have to pay 12% on bicycles  and bicycle related items.

Here’s a post from Lana Popham, Opposition  MLA in BC:

“We can stop this new tax on cycling if all  cyclists and friends of cyclists come  together and make their voice heard.

There are many reasons to oppose the HST.

The fact that it will result in a tax hike on a green and healthy mode of transit is an excellent example of what is wrong with the HST.
Your support will show the B.C. provincial government how much public support there is for progressive cycling policy.

Yes, cycling: right now in B.C. we don’t pay the 7% PST when we purchase bicycles, locks, helmets, chain oil and so on.

If the HST is implemented in July we will have to pony up that 7%.

If the government of British Columbia is sincere about its efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, taxing bicycles and other products and services that allow people to reduce their personal emissions does not make any sense.

In 1981, the government implemented a PST exemption for bicycles and related safety equipment. This was a very progressive measure… and never has it been more needed.”

So if you are in or around Victoria on March 3rd, please head down to the Parliament buildings and make your voice heard.  Naked bikes will be there.
