Velonews – Stars shine at Handmade Show – The North American Handmade Bicycle Show was quite a draw this year for boutique frame builders and their fans — including Lance Armstrong, Brian Lopes and Robin Williams.
Velonews – Celebrating with Lance – …The “Naked” 1890s-style track bike, with carved beechwood handlebar grips and pin-striped wooden rims, was created by Canadian builder Sam Whittingham and was bought for $15,000 by Armstrong — who revealed Saturday that he has ridden the bike, but just once.

The Quadra Island couple arrived at the packed Oregon Convention centre with high hopes.
Out There Biking – North American Handbuilt Bike Show – Just like Crufts, someone’s destined to come away with Best of Show. Canadian Naked Cycles scooped up the award, as well as a slew of other trophies, with their modern take on a late 1800s track bike.

Sam Whittingham breaks world record!
ESPN.com – Because really, this is nuts – SEPTEMBER 2003. Sam Whittingham, a national team track cyclist from Canada, is inside this contraption that he and his buddy insist on calling a bicycle even though it looks more like a homemade cruise missile with two tires peeking out from underneath. He’s lying back on a recumbent frame inside the eight-foot-long sculpted faring, squeezed so tightly into place that he can’t move his head; his position resembles that of someone hiding in a pipe.
